Alessandro Boni's Recioto represents one of the best expressions of this sweet raisin wine, which takes its name from the Veronese term "Recia," meaning ear, since the most lateral parts of the clusters are used to make it since they are more sugary.
Grapes grown on the family vines in Negrar are harvested in September and then left to dry for 4-5 months, then crushed and left to ferment first in steel and then in terracotta amphorae. Deep ruby in color, this red passito recalls hints of ripe fruit, wild blackberries and cinchona. On the palate, the sweetness is expertly offset by notes of black fruit and bitter cocoa.
